The head school of the University of Science (Universiti Sains Malaysia, USM) was founded in June 1969 and has a history of 51 years. The main campus of PolyU is located in Bukit Minden, Penang, only about ten kilometers away from the famous Georgetown in Penang. It only takes about 10 minutes by car from the PolyU main school to George Town, while it takes 30-40 minutes by public bus.

Although the campus of PolyU's main campus is not large, the public facilities on campus can be said to be everything. As for sports facilities, PolyU has various courts, such as basketball courts, tennis courts, football fields, handball courts, hockey courts, bi-fields, table tennis tables and badminton courts. Students can enjoy these public facilities in their free time to relieve the pressure on schoolwork.

There are many student dormitories inside and outside the main campus of PolyU. The dormitory has basic water and electricity, wireless internet (wi), washing machine, dryer, iron, electric kettle and other basic facilities. During the orientation week, the school stipulates that every freshman must live in a dormitory. After the orientation week, the school will still provide these dormitories to freshmen, and freshmen can decide whether to live. Students in the second year can choose to move out of off-campus apartments (Desa University, University Heights Apartment, Ivory Apartment, Desa Airmas Apartment, Sri Saujana Apartment, etc.) or use MyCSD to apply for staying in the dormitory on campus. Each dormitory area has at least one dining room (Cafeteria). In addition to the dormitory area, there are also dining rooms in many other places on the campus. The food on campus is mostly red and spicy meals served by Malay compatriots, but of course the economical rice stalls sold by the Chinese (K10 Damai dormitory) and Indians (Fajar Harapan dormitory) are also indispensable. The food choices they provide are even more dazzling. ! In addition to local delicacies, PolyU also has many western food restaurants such as The Kapit’s and De Pauh Garden for students to feast on.

There are also many grocery stores on the campus of PolyU. They sell all kinds of daily necessities such as washing powder and stationery, so PolyU students don’t have to worry about daily necessities. In addition, the school also has banks (CIMB Bank, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Maybank), a post office (Pos Laju), ATMs (AmBank, Bank Islam, CIMB Bank, BSN, Maybank) and medical clinics such as dentists service etc. As for transportation, there is a campus bus service on the PolyU campus, which allows students to ride unlimited times, which provides a lot of convenience for students.

In addition, outside the PolyU campus, Jalan Sungai Dua, there are also many grocery stores, banks (Am Bank, RHB Bank, Hong Leong Bank), Internet cafes, cafes, fast food restaurants (McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway, etc.) , Copy shop, 24-hour convenience store,Tesco hypermarket and bus terminal (Sg Nibong Bas Terminal). It is worth mentioning that the catering industry near PolyU and even far away is quite prosperous, so PolyU students can be said to be very happy!

The Padang Kawad of the PolyU main campus is a starting point for the Penang State Free Bus (CAT 11). CAT 11 will circle the campus and then go outside the campus. Students can take this free CAT11 bus to Queensbay Mall (Queensbay Mall) to go shopping or buy daily necessities. In addition, there are also several bus stops outside the PolyU campus, on the street of Jalan Sungai Dua. PolyU students can choose the Rapid Penang Bus Company's bus transportation service, and the minimum cost per ride is RM1.4O. If new students are not familiar with Penang bus routes, you can download the Moovit app to see which buses you can take and their routes! Of course, PolyU students who own vehicles (commonly known as student taxis) will also provide transportation services, and the price is half cheaper than outside taxis! PolyU students can choose to take a bus or student taxi to Queensbay Mall, which is not far from PolyU, or other squares in Georgetown, such as Gurney Plaza, First Avenue, etc. ..... It can be said that there is everything to eat, drink and play!

In terms of student activities, PolyU has various points-based and non-point-based extracurricular activities for students to participate in, including uniformed groups such as (Navy, Army Reserve (PALAPES), Red Crescent Society, St. John's Ambulance, Scout ), sports (tennis, squash, football, golf, swimming, taekwondo, archery, etc.), art (drama, musical instruments, ethnic and modern dance, fine arts, handicrafts, photography, etc.), academics (Chinese, English, Indian, The Japanese Language Society, Kung Fu Society, etc.), religious societies such as the Buddhist Society and the Christian Society, and many other activity groups such as the International Society (AIESEC). In the PolyU main campus, almost every major festival will have a special program, such as the New Year Gala, Mid-Autumn Festival, Deepavali, Haji Festival, Thaipusam, Eid al-Fitr and so on. These programs will have amazing performances such as dancing, singing, cultural performances, and lottery events.

In addition, there are also some activities organized by societies, such as new song launches, Buddhist seminars, Christian gatherings, group exchange meetings, and so on. In addition to participating in these activities, PolyU students can also become event organizers or planners. From these activities, students can not only learn various communication and communication skills, event planning, organization management and leadership training skills, but also expand themselves In the exchange circle, in addition to making friends and classmates on campus, they also have the opportunity to meet friends from other colleges!
