The University of Malaya is referred to as University of Malaya. It is the oldest university in Malaysia. The campus of about 750 acres is located in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. As early as October 8, 1949, King Edward VII College of Medicine and Raffles College (Raes College) merged to form the then University of Malaya. In the tenth year of the rapid development of the university, the school decided to open another branch campus in Kuala Lumpur. In 1960, the governments on both sides of the strait expressed their desire to include the two universities in the national universities of various countries. The Legislative Yuan passed the approval in 1961, and the university branch in Kuala Lumpur, the capital, independently became the University of Malaysia; and the university branch in Singapore became the current National University of Singapore. As of October 2015, the University of Malaysia has a total of 2,912 faculty members, of which 847 professors from all over the world and local professors jointly teach more than 70 departments of the University of Malaysia. The University of Malaya has a total of 13,125 local students and 3967 foreign students from more than 80 countries studying, including bachelor, master and doctorate students and postgraduates.

The University of Marathon campus has all the hardware and equipment. The oldest is the main library with 41 years of history. In addition to the collection of periodicals, manuscripts, audiovisual materials and CD-ROMs, the library also has a collection of more than 1.2 million books. The library is equipped with a discussion area, a multimedia area, and a reading area. Computers, high-definition televisions, or photocopiers can all be found in the library. Located directly opposite the library is Kompleks Perdanasiswa, which is like a treasure bag of the University of Malaysia. A total of twelve student dormitories have been established on the campus of the University of Malaya, which can accommodate approximately 10,000 students. In addition, there are four off-campus dormitories located in Petaling District 16, District 17, Pantai Valley and Bangsar. The dormitory is like a small community with auditoriums, sports facilities, activity centers, various courts, study rooms and restaurants. In the dormitory, various healthy activities are often held for students to participate in, so as to train and improve students' abilities and ensure the diversity of students' dormitory life. The cost of dormitory accommodation at the University of Malaya is RM6.50 per day, and it is calculated on a semester basis, that is, a one-semester accommodation fee is charged at a time; this is different from general renting. And students need to live in the dormitory for the first academic year, after which they can choose whether to continue living. If there are special circumstances, students can apply to the dormitory management to move out of the dormitory early. In addition, if students want to continue living in the dormitory in the next school year, they must actively participate in the activities of the dormitory.

In terms of off-campus facilities, there is a police station about 1 km away from the University of Malaya. About 2 kilometers away, there is a Light Rail Station (Station LRTUniversity), and buses and taxis also have sections of this LRT Station, so the traffic is very convenient. During holidays, students can also go to the Midvalley shopping center less than 4 kilometers away from the University of Malaya, or to the Tropicana City Mall near Petaling District 17 to buy any daily necessities. The societies on the campus of the University of Malaya can be said to be blossoming, with more than 80 student groups engaged in various activities. Among them, the University of Malaysia Student Council is the main group. It represents students to negotiate with the school about student affairs and welfare issues. Among all groups, the Chinese Literature Association and the Buddhist Association are the largest Chinese-American student organizations in the University of Malaya. The Chinese Literature Association plays a role in promoting Chinese, carrying forward Chinese culture and promoting exchanges among students of all ethnic groups. In addition, the University of Malaya organizes some larger cultural activities every year, such as the Malaysian Lantern Festival, the Information Exhibition of the Malaysian Buddhist Society, and the large-scale cradle hand. Two of the groups in the cultural centre of the University of Malaya, the Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese Classical Dance and Drama Troupe, also often participate in the school’s cultural activities.


Entertainment. The University of Malaysia Counselling Group is also one of the groups on the campus of the University of Malaya. Through a series of campus route activities, the University of Marshall University Counseling Group will promote the importance of further studies to middle school students from all over the country, and help them solve their questions about further studies. The University College Counseling Group also has other networking activities to bring the team members closer together and regularly give them various trainings to enhance their communication skills.
